After the signing of Marcus Gomis, the MSB got their hands on their first foreign recruit: the 4-3 position Tres Tinkle arrives in Sarthe from Cremona, Lega’s red lantern.

Here is one that lives up to its name! Renowned for the reliability of his three-point shot (38.3% in Italy this season), Very Tinkle (2.03m, 26 years old) has joined the ranks of Le Mans Sarthe Basket for the 2022/23 financial year.

Best scorer in the history of Oregon State, ahead of Hall-of-Famer Gary Payton, the Montana native turned professional two years ago. After trying his luck in the NBA in vain, finishing with the Raptors 905 in the G-League during his rookie exercise (8.2 points at 50% and 3.7 rebounds), this 4-3 position was convinced to come to Europe last summer. He took it well since he highlighted himself in Lega (12.8 points at 47%, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists for 13.9 evaluation). With all the same a big black spot: his team from Cremona finished in last place in the Italian championship. Not enough to put off the MSB, which expresses all its satisfaction at having unearthed its first American recruit in Lombardy.

“This versatile left-handed interior, used mainly on the position of strong winger but comfortable in 3, corresponds to the technical profile sought by the staff, namely a basketball player capable of stretching the defenses by the quality of his shot at 3pts , endowed with a good sense of the pass and a game intelligence capable of being able to align it in “Swiss army knife” mode. Driven by the wide game (45% of his shots taken in Italy were behind the 6.75m line), able to create on transition, very well placed in the game without the ball to make himself available, served by an above-average basketball IQ that allows him to anticipate and surprise his opponents (6th Lega interceptor), Tres is quite simply a basketball player, if not an athlete with extraordinary physical qualities. »

The reactions :

Elric Delord: “Tres is what is called a Point Forward, that is to say a 2nd playmaker on the field in a 4-3 position thanks, in particular, to his game intelligence. A complete player, he offers an offensive palette quite wide and spreads defenses on his 3pt shot. He is nonetheless invested in defense, which makes me think, at times, of Terry’s by his activity. Finally, it is in line with what we are looking for in priority on this transfer window in all positions, namely competitor, worker, who wants to learn and share. »

Very Tinkles: “I am very grateful and excited for the opportunity offered by the MSB. When making my decision, I really felt that it was the best team and organization to achieve my goals, which are to win games and be competitive in the competitions to be played. After talking to the coach, I could see his dedication to his players, his staff and the importance of creating a winning culture. I’m new to France, but I’ve only heard good things about the country and the level of competitiveness of this league. Every year it gets better and it will be a great platform to play against some of the best teams in Europe. »

Following the loan from Hugo Mienandi to Évreux, Tinkle becomes the eighth player in the Sarthois squad. He thus joins survivors Kaza Kajami-Keane, Valentin Chéry, Terry Tarpey, Kenny Baptiste and Williams Narace as well as neo-pro Mathias van den Beemt and rookie Marcus Gomis. Two backs and a pivot are still expected at Antares.
