Game News GTA 6: when Rockstar crashes and shakes the Internet
Sometimes all it takes is a spark to ignite big flames. That’s what happened today: the Rockstar site stopped working temporarily. A minor incident that ignited the web.
GTA 6: eleven years after GTA V, again?
Today the walls shook. And not just a little. For nearly five hours, Rockstar’s website displayed a black screen. What was probably a simple site update bug quickly turned into a rumor: could the studio make an announcement regarding Grand Theft Auto VI ? A rumor based on a fact that happened more than ten years ago: to announce the logo of GTA V as well as a first trailer, Rockstar had then set aside its site to simply illustrate the information.
An event that fans remember. Evidenced by the rises of the terms GTA 6 and Rockstar on Twitter at the time of the incident. But as the minutes passed, the excitement gave way to disappointment: the Red Dead Redemption II page returned to normal, followed by that of Bully and Max Payne 3. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, GTA Online and GTA 5 which were visible again with nothing new on the horizon. It seems that this crash was not intentional and that it was indeed a bug.
GTA 6: the latest news
Unfortunately, therefore, we will still have to wait before having any news from GTA 6. The latest official information concerning the next episode of the license dates from Friday February 04, 2022: in a post on its official blog, Rockstar then indicated that it was “proud to confirm that the development of the next opus of Grand Theft Auto is well underway“.
Nevertheless, he also specifies that he wants “produce something that has never been done before“. A statement that implies that it will take time, especially since the longevity of GTA V has little or no competition: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been released, like GTA V, on the last three generations of consoles in versions optimized for. Moreover, it is just as difficult to imagine how Rockstar will go about distributing as much or even more GTA VI than GTA V (165 million).
Finally, we cannot bury GTA V either, which continues to be a hit: evidenced by the recent release of the PS5 / Xbox Series version (five million copies sold) as well as the transition to stand alone GTA Online.
